Diversion
The Mid-America Juvenile Diversion Program is a pre-trial program for minors, conducted by the Omaha Bar Association and the Boy Scouts of America. The purpose is to provide young offenders facing criminal charges a positive alternative to juvenile court. Structured activities help youth improve attitudes about the legal system, self-image, communication methods and conflict resolution.
Who Is EligibleReferrals to the program are made by the Douglas County Juvenile Assessment Center. Participants must be between 10 and 18 years old. Once the Diversion Office receives a referral, a letter will be sent to the potential participant's parent/guardianinforming them of the program. Youth participation is confidential.
